We're getting no more hot water, it stopped this morning (Saturday).
Has this happened to anyone else?
What's the best way to go about fixing it?
Found out after going to the gym - need a shower!!

Yup, the plumber was apparently here last night and is coming back again this morning.
For issues like this, call this number then press 3 to get a person, usually the front desk guy at the Adelphia House. He usually knows what's up. 215-568-5800

I really doubt I'm going to renew my lease when it's up. This place has quickly turned into a total shitshow. Maintenance requests are being ignored, the basement flooded from a broken pipe the other night, the heater was broken for like a week, and now there's no hot water for the second time in recent memory. And it's been 24 hours! WTF do they expect us to do in a situation like this. This is an EMERGENCY maintenance situation. I haven't even seen or heard the plumber. There is no one working in this building right now. I was really excited about living here but so far, this has become a surprisingly bad experience.

Hot water's fixed! So that took a day and a bit to be sorted out.

Yup, makes you appreciate having a nice hot shower and shave like I did when it was back on! Yea, this building is not in great shape. the heat and hot water issue usually happens a couple times each winter. hoping it isn't with all this snow coming.

I don't understand how they justify charging such high rents for this building. I mean, I guess I should say I've only seen one living cockroach in the building so far so I guess that's a plus. But probably lots of buildings don't have cockroach issues. Then again, I haven't lived here that long. For all I know, in June the place might be crawling with them. (Scared.)

I haven't seen any at either of my places on the 8th floor in a looooong time. I lived in 803 from 2002 - 2014 and have been in 804 for almost a year. Each time I moved in, I put those roach motel things in a few locations, just to be sure. Hasn't been an issue for me.

That's good to know! If I get through this upcoming summer without any cockroach issues, that might outweigh all the other BS I've had to deal with so far living here. I'll tell ya what: The heat thing is really ticking me off. I have two brand new AC/heat units and I haven't had to run the heaters in them too often. But since December to January was cold-but-not-quite-cold-enough-for-these-cheapskates-to-turn-on-the-radiator-heat, my electric bill just came in at almost $95! Last month, it was like $35.
Out of curiosity: What made you move from one apartment to the one right next-door?

I started a new job which paid a good bit less than the previous one so had to reduce some expenses. Being able to move down the hall (from a 1 bedroom to a studio) worked out well.

Oh, cool. And you have been in this building for quite a while. You really like it here, eh?

Well.... I like the location. I do volunteer work around and play some tennis, so being near the tennis shop around the corner (Everyone's Racquet) and Seger Park (2 tennis courts) is great. I used to work at 16th/Market, but now I'm working in the burbs so being near the regional rail station is good. I still go out to the suburbs for non-work purposes sometimes so that also requires the train. And I like how the neighborhood has improved overall in the past dozen years.
So, location is really good. Apartment is good enough. I've learned to flow with the building issues as they come. The worst was when the elevator was offline for like 3 weeks. I think that was last summer. Everything else compared to that is minor.
